Welcome

I'm Rebecca, the girl behind the camera .... thank you for popping by to say hello.

Rebecca Doyle Photography - the art of capturing precious moments in time.......

A Bloggy Break .....

I have just noticed that a few weeks have gone by without me even attempting a new blog post ..... and I must say, I've rather enjoyed the break. It's actually gone hand in hand with me taking a semi-break from being behind the camera. It's certainly not that I don't love doing it, but I simply haven't been able to find the head-space. Tired me = minimal motivation and creative drive!

My little girl has been keeping me very busy these last few weeks - she's an energetic and talkative almost 3 year old, who has discovered the art of boundary pushing! Need I say much more.

I work part-time, and in addition to this, run a couple of home businesses .... yes...... business plug coming up! Rebecca Doyle Photography and, for all your gymnastic/sports acro/cheer/trampolining/tumbling needs - Aerial Creations. What I have found over the last few months, is that all my work now needs to be done in the evening - daytime tasks with the day to day toddler fun swirling around me is nigh on impossible. Daytime naps were removed from the schedule several months ago when that swirling eddy of toddler fun would still be swirling at 11pm. Then even getting things done in the evening became a challenge bigger than conquering Mt Everest - I was exhausted.

The tricky balance of now trying to complete everything that I wish to in the evening is my husband & I don't spend much time together.... and that is making me sad. A few weeks ago we celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary, an accomplishment I am most proud of. He is someone I love dearly and I desperately want to spend more time with. So now, a couple of nights a week, unless absolutely necessary, I keep a safe distance between me and my study - no computer time. I have found this amazingly calming .... all of a sudden I have felt a bit more balance.

I am focussing my photography work on building up my base of customer work in the natural light family photography that I have my passion, and learning as much as I can along the way. I want to completely surround myself with photography ... I want to learn so much .... I want to drink up all the knowledge around me ..... I want to try new things and become a better photographer. The beauty of the digital era is everytime I jump onto my computer, be it onto Facebook, Flickr, other blogs, I am immediately surrounded by amazing photography examples, tips & tutorials. The pitfall of the digital era is everytime I jump onto my computer, be it onto Facebook, Flickr, other blogs, I am immediately surrounded by amazing photograph examples, tips & tutorials.......... :D.

I need to plan my time better sometimes - making sure I do what I intended to do when I get on the computer and not get lost in the array of things to look at and distract me. This just might stop my head from feeling as though it is at bursting point!

So for now, I'm off to grab myself a cuppa and as it is a Sunday afternoon, take it a little easy.

I entered the Epiphanie Camera Bags + Photo Card Boutique Picture It photo contest! http://bit.ly/ITqV5R

I'm a victim of computer surfing distraction disorder as well.
