My little poppet and I had some fun this afternoon .....

It's been a while since I've officially 'embraced the camera' .... and I am glad I found the time to do it today - we had loads of fun, looking at ourselves silly in the mirror, and taking, what my daughter calls 'silly photos'.

Funny Faces

This afternoon I embarked on making 'Funny Face' biscuits with Tara (I remember doing these as a kid!).... these were a great activity to do with her, as the preparation (and mess) was minimal, and she got to have fun creating.

I lost count however of the amount of times she said "Can I eat one?" when she picked up a lolly to decorate the faces!

I have learnt from the last few times I have done either craft or cooking activities with little Miss-busy-active-'hands-on'-2 1/2 year old .... prepare first. So after her & I took a trip to the shops (and we stopped for a coffee/milk shake) to select the face decorations, I quickly headed into the kitchen to get everything ready.

We had bowls of chocolate, jelly beans, fruit sticks and sprinkles. A quick mix of icing sugar, boiling water and a few drops of food colouring saw the pinky/purple icing ready to go.

And then little Miss, in her pink sparkly shoes, entered the kitchen ready for action.
And aren't these shoes the cutest?! A couple of weeks ago, I decided Tara needed more shoes than the runners and gumboots she wore most days, so I announced to her "let's go to the shops and buy you some shoes" ..... her response "I'd like pink, sparkly ones please!!". Fortunately for me, the shop we went to had them. Phew. Melt down avoided.

I thought I would use today's kitchen activity to also take my 'Embrace the Camera' photo (taking an everyday shot, with me included).

{Let's Do 52} & {Embrace the Camera}

For the second week in a row I have been excited to be able to combine my 'Let's Do 52' and my new found 'Embrace the Camera' love & challenge (I love knowing each week I am going to capture a shot of Tara & I doing whatever Tara & I do). See HERE for last week's image of my little poppet & I hanging out in a cafe for some much needed re-charging.

The theme this week for 'Let's Do 52' is to do a self-portrait with a loved one, and today presented the perfect opportunity as l'il T and I bunkered down inside while the crazy 'summer' day outside blew up a storm and rained non-stop.....brrrr.......It was time for some cubby house play....

I am most humbled to have my image picked as one of the eight picks of the week :)

Let's Do 52 - {4/52} - Unexpected Perspective

It wasn't until I got home today, after taking Tara out to a cafe for lunch, that I discovered this week's theme for 'Let's Do 52' - and as it so happens, the photos I took whilst I was there (because of course I took my camera out to lunch too!) happened to fit the theme perfectly ('Unexpected Perspective').

My l'il T was out of childcare today recovering from a head cold, I took the day off work to hang out with her. With junior panadol giving her a boost, she was getting a little stir-crazy in the house, so we headed down to one of my favourite funky cafes, Tilley's, found ourselves a booth seat in the corner and armed with toy cars, a selection of 'Little Miss' and 'Dr Seuss' books, and of course, Teddy, we shared a breakfast focaccia (well, she ate a little bit of cheese). For drinks, I had my usual skinny mocha and she was treated to a kiddie's vanilla milkshake. I even managed to flip through a magazine!

A couple of weeks ago I came across 'Embrace the Camera' (turning the camera on yourself once a week, 'embracing the camera' and capturing the moments you share with someone special) and have decided that each week, I will take a photo of Tara & I, just doing whatever Tara & I do. It was a happy coincidence that this week's photo also suited my weekly 'Let's Do 52' challenge :)
