The weekend saw me travelling back to my home town, Melbourne, to attend a friend's wedding and take some family photos for the lovely Louise, Waj & their cute as a button 3 month old son Jonty - whose little giggles just melted my heart. And when Mummy & Daddy got down on the floor to play with him, he simply couldn't contain himself and the giggles flowed..... and they were so very contagious!
Thank you Louise & Waj for making me feel so very welcome and allowing me to snap some precious memories for you. Here's a little sneak peek ......
This trip back to my 'home' has me thinking and working on some more future sessions in Melbourne ..... keep an eye on my Facebook page for more news soon!

Let's Do 52 - {6/52} - Topsy-Turvy

Self-portrait .... a challenge by The Paper Mama
One thing I am focusing on this year with my photography, is to capture more images of me with Tara ....making sure that I get out from behind the camera and have lots of photos that I can look back on in many years to come of the day to day things that we do.
I discovered the other day that you simply cannot do anything secretly with a curious 2 1/2 year old by your side. My idea was to use my remote and snap a couple of photos whilst we were hanging out and reading. But after the first photo, she commandeered the remote ...... and we ended up having some fun with the photos! So here is my take on The Paper Mama's selfie challenge .....
Currently I am ...
Obsessing over ...
Money. I'm sure a lot of you obsess over this, a lot of the time! I only work 2 days a week, as I want to spend as much time with my young daughter in her early years as I can. In addition to this work, I stay up late each night working on developing my photography business, which will allow me greater flexibility and more time with her. It's hard not to think about paying our mortgage and having money to allow us to enjoy life ..... but spending the extra time with her always wins me over.
Working on ...
Trying to stay calm. I am really taking this to my core this year and working very hard on not being the usual stress bunny that I am.
Thinking about ...
What I am going to wear to work tomorrow! I must say, one of the things I do love about going into work a couple of days a week is wearing nice clothes! (that and going to the bathroom without a companion who wants a story read or a song sung........!)
Anticipating ...
My first photo shoot this weekend with total strangers! Very excited and nervous :)
Listening to ...
The constant path of footsteps from my daughter's room to the lounge, with a new negotiation each time for not going to bed.
Eating ...
A delicious apricot. I love summer and all the juicy fruits that are in abundance at the moment.
Wishing ...
Firstly, that my daughter would give in and go to bed! Secondly, that I can slowly start ticking things off my list of things to do.......

Girl's morning at the ballet
This morning a good friend and I took our little girls to see the Royal New Zealand ballet perform 'Angelina Ballerina' ... and a girls trip to the theatre was just what was in order. The two littlies were all dressed up and so very excited, and I must say, Melissa & I really enjoyed the adventure too. With the performance being only 75 minutes long, this show is geared for children, to introduce them to the world of ballet performance, with all children encouraged to don their favourite tutus and clap and cheer loudly during the show (all of which Tara & Gabriella did with great enthusiasm).
Being mindful of keeping two 2 1/2 year olds in the one spot, I prepared some goodie bags for the day, packing in colouring sheets, pens and pencils, stickers and an array of snacks. Thanks to the official Angelina Ballerina website (visit HERE) - for the colouring sheets and bookmarks (which I made by sticking the cut out onto the cardboard of yesterday's discarded breakfast cereal box!).
And then after the girlie stuff was over, and Tara piroutted and arabesqued (oh, and forward rolled... my little gymnast!) her way through the foyer of the Canberra Theatre (yes, she actually did!), some good ol' climbing and jumping was in order.....

{Let's Do 52} & {Embrace the Camera}
For the second week in a row I have been excited to be able to combine my 'Let's Do 52' and my new found 'Embrace the Camera' love & challenge (I love knowing each week I am going to capture a shot of Tara & I doing whatever Tara & I do). See HERE for last week's image of my little poppet & I hanging out in a cafe for some much needed re-charging.
The theme this week for 'Let's Do 52' is to do a self-portrait with a loved one, and today presented the perfect opportunity as l'il T and I bunkered down inside while the crazy 'summer' day outside blew up a storm and rained non-stop.....brrrr.......It was time for some cubby house play....

I am most humbled to have my image picked as one of the eight picks of the week :)

See HERE for the week's wrap up - so many inspiring photos!
